Pool Skimmer & Pump Basket Cleaning in Rockledge, Merritt Island & Surrounding Areas

What We Do During Skimmer & Pump Cleaning

Barefoot Pool Services routinely inspects and cleans your pool's collection baskets — the components that catch debris before it reaches your pump and filter.

• Skimmer basket removal, emptying, and rinsing
• Skimmer housing interior cleaning
• Skimmer lid and collar inspection
• Pump basket removal, emptying, and rinsing
• Pump lid and O-ring inspection
• Flow check to confirm adequate suction
• Debris back-tracking to identify entry points

Why Clogged Baskets Are a Serious Problem

Your skimmer and pump baskets are your pool's first mechanical defense against debris. When they fill up, water flow to your pump drops — starving it of the flow it needs to operate properly. This causes your pump to run hot, work harder, and wear out faster. Pump replacements are expensive; routine basket inspections and cleaning are included with our maintenance plan.

Florida Debris Loads Are Higher Than Average

Pools in Rockledge, Merritt Island, and surrounding areas deal with heavy organic debris year-round — oak leaves, palm fronds, acorns, seeds, insects, and storm debris. Skimmer baskets can fill significantly faster than in other climates, which is why we inspect the pump and skimmer baskets as needed on each visit.

Skimmer O-Ring and Seal Inspection

While cleaning your skimmer and pump, our technicians inspect the O-rings and seals that keep these components watertight. A failing pump lid O-ring causes air to enter the system, leading to pump cavitation and potential motor damage. Catching a worn O-ring during a routine visit costs pennies compared to the repair bills it prevents.
