Pool Skimming Service in Rockledge, Merritt Island & Surrounding Areas

What Is Pool Skimming?

Pool skimming is the process of removing floating debris — leaves, insects, pollen, grass clippings, and other organic matter — from the surface of your pool water before it sinks to the bottom. Once debris sinks, it breaks down and feeds algae, throws off chemical balance, and clogs your filtration system.

Why Skimming Matters in Brevard County

Rockledge and Merritt Island homes are surrounded by lush Florida landscaping — oak trees, palms, tropical shrubs — that constantly shed into pools. Add in the insects and wildlife from the Indian River Lagoon nearby, and Brevard County pools accumulate surface debris faster than almost anywhere else. Our technicians skim every square inch of your pool's surface on every visit, ensuring nothing is left floating to decompose.

Skimming vs. Your Pool's Automatic Skimmer

Your pool has a built-in skimmer — a suction port that captures surface water — but it can't reach all debris, especially in corners, steps, and areas with poor circulation. Manual skimming with a net is still essential to catch what the skimmer misses. We check and empty your automatic skimmer baskets as well, ensuring the full system is working properly.

• Manual net skimming of entire pool surface
• Corner and step debris removal
• Automatic skimmer basket emptying and cleaning
• Skimmer lid and housing inspection
• Identification of any blockages or flow issues

The Connection Between Skimming and Water Chemistry

Floating organic matter — leaves, insects, sunscreen residue — consumes chlorine as it decomposes. A pool with heavy surface debris will burn through sanitizer rapidly, leaving you with cloudy, unbalanced water. Consistent skimming reduces your chemical consumption and helps maintain stable, healthy water chemistry between service visits.
